Its Finally Over...

Everyone knows i took the GRADE 7 PIANO EXAMINATION today as i talked about it over and over again...

Wow, its finally over then...RELIEF...

Now, let us recall what happened in the tiny hotel room in Merdeka Palace, shall we?

It happened that i woke up unusually early today without complaining or attempting to get more sleep...

The alarm rang at exactly 5.50am and i jumped out of bed as soon as i turned off the alarm...

Then, the usual routine went on...i brushed my teeth, cleaned my face...bla bla bla...

And of course, i took a last minute practice..

It was pretty good...i enjoyed waking up neighbours...(no offense)

Next, that hateful pain came...i went to the toilet...stomach-ache...

Don't laugh...mark you, i got stomach-ache every time i'm nervous...

Right, back to the point...So, i went to Merdeka Palace...

i reach there around 7.40am...i took the lift up to 5th floor...my mum is with me...

The registration lady came just after me...attendance was taken...

Around 8.00am, my examiner, that is Hugh Davies, went for breakfast...

He returned just in time for the examination to start...i was the first candidate...The exam start exactly 8.30am...

i took a deep breathe and it started...

Here's part of the conversation....

Examiner : Good morning.
Me : Good morning. (manage to force out a falsely smile)
Examiner : Have a sit here.
Me : Thank you. (being polite to gain marks, you know)
Examiner : What would you like to start first, scales or pieces?
Me : Scales. (looking at him to be polite)
Examiner : Ok. Which group did you chose?
Me : Group 1. (still looking at him)
Examiner : Ok. Well, let us start with a D major both hands staccato, please.
Me : (here gos)

Well, scales started quite ok but my 1st inversion...puhh...it was lousy...But i manage it quite ok...

Then, the pieces...Damn Goodness...Giga was a total disaster...i wish someone knock me off that time...

i kept repeating places i shouldn't had repeated...wrong notes...errors here and there...

Then, the second piece...Octobre...it was my life saver...i think i played it well..

But, in the middle part, the examiner coughed...oh gosh...wrong notes again...luckily, it wasn't obvious...

Third piece...Willie Wagglestick's Walkabout...it worse than Giga...its not a disaster...its rubbish...

oh God, forgive me...repeating, wrong notes everywhere, stopping here and there...i'm afraid i'd fail this piece...

Next, Sight-reading...the only thing i think is good today...

It was in D major...i played it quite well...

The piece is in andante expressivo...i just saw the expressivo right after i had finished...nevermind...

Finally, aural...Singing...gosh...i think everything is out of tune...

Sight-singing is better...its in Eb major...but the 'so' was out of tune...

Then, cadence...he gave me a minor key...HE GAVE ME A MINOR KEY!!!

Gosh, aren't my aural worse enough?..why did he gave me a minor key?!!

ok...no offense...he played the piece and I THINK its imperfect...i told him it was 1c and 5a...To truly say, i have no confidence in the answer...

The examiner gave me an are-you-serious look...i returned him with a is-the-answer wrong look...his expression did not answer me...

Next, modulation...i think i was quite impolite to cover my ears while he play...But i am so keen to keep my 'do' with me that i did not wonder so much...

The examiner gave me a why-are-you-covering-your-ears look...i avoid his gaze...

He played the piece so fast that i hardly heard the last chord...

So, i had to guess...i told him subdominant...Then, i change my mind...i thought twice...i told myself, isn't it dominant?..But the answer is out so what can i do?...

Again, the examiner gave me an are-you-serious look...But this time, i was wondering off with my own thoughts...

Lastly, guessing musical period...

He played the piece twice...I THINK it is a Baroque piece...i told him it was in the polyphonic texture and it is in Baroque time...

That's all...he told me i may go...i chant a thank you to him to be polite...

That's it...its finish...30 minutes in that room and it will determine the results of all my efforts for a year...

Well honestly, i did not put much effort in it...

My dearest examiner, please let me pass my pieces...

Thank you...
